My adorable nephew !! We took a trip to swan lake one beautiful Sunday afternoon and took Knox's 7.5 month pictures :) He is so stinkin' cute with those fat little legs and drool on his sweet little chin. His first halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner and I feel so blessed to have little ones like him all around me at those times ..... family, there's nothing like it !!!

I dont think any mother can put into words what having a newborn feels like. It's gods perfect blessing, one that you can feel, touch and smell. Nothing will ever compare to the first moments I spent with my sons, nothing. Easton has been a suprise from the start, from the "we're pregnant part to the birth story " . He is much like my pregnancy, very calm and such a sweet baby. I could never describe in words what I feel for my boys but I can say that I hope everyone is as lucky to have something so special in their lives that it takes their breath away every single day!

Short birth story ... checked into the hospital at 4pm, was told I would be induced 7/29 at 5am ..... given sleeping pills at 8pm ....STRONG CONTRACTIONS until 10 pm whem my water broke and Easton was on the way ... Dr was called, he rushed in, no time for medication !! Easton was born to our family at 10:55 pm 7/28/09 !!!!! Justin and I are truly blessed !

28 weeks with Easton - my 2nd love !

The weeks are flying by and I am getting more nervous by the minute because I feel so unprepared . Wow how time flies ! Bryn for sure had a workout in store for her pregnant aunt Trish but I think we got some keepers with her session. I remember like yesterday the day she was born. Our family has truly had many blessings and I for one couldn't be a prouder aunt !

Here are some really sad attempts at using indoor lighting ... UGH. It's cold and rainy and no way to go outside. However, Valentines day is fast approaching so I wanted to do some sweet lil pictures. Failed ! Here is what I got... also, I want to mention that I find the white paper extremely drab and boring and in most pics .. the paper never looks white. Who am I kidding, it's all user error !!! I am so sad that these didn't turn out, any tips on how to improve... I would love to hear!

Sidenote from Kaian .... he is going up on his price. A small bag of funyuns AND a lollipop for his services. I may trade him in for another model.....anyone willing to work for cheap ? ;)

I want to introduce you to Bullet and Copper, two my brothers babies. They were so excited to have their picture taken. They should because they are beautiful ! I am very passionate about this breed and thought it fitting to post as my first entry in my 52 weekly picture theme.

For many these faces bring fear and hatred. A sadness my heart has yet to accept. These pit bulls to me are one of the most beautiful breeds and can be the best friend you could ask for. I really get annoyed at people living in the stereotype that these are vicious animals looking for a kill, really ? Have you owned one? Have you played with one as a puppy, fed one as an adult. No? Then how could you feel such hatred for something you have never experienced?

The truth is harder to believe. These dogs, the ones left to starve, the ones that have been beaten and fought until they couldn't breathe are the result of a human with hate in their heart. So rather than actually admitting that humankind can be so violent and cold hearted it is easier to say that a whole breed should die, am I right?

Many that read this will disagree with me and that is fine. I just ask that next time you think of a pit bull don't think of the image that society painted in your head, think of a puppy full of life and love wagging it's tail eagerly waiting on you to love him and play with him......... this is how pit bulls start out, much like any other puppy.

Stephanie was such a trooper and was up for anything so I took full advantage and she really was game for all I had planned...... LOVE a client like that! :) This shot was taken outdoors and it might have been 50 degrees but looking at it here, it was all worth it and this moment in time was captured flawlessly ......

Stephanie, I am so excited for my nephew Knox to arrive ! My piece of advice is ......... nothing will go as planned during the birth or after, in fact , it will all be better than you could ever imagine ! Holding that precious newborn that you and Evan have created will be the most beautiful blessing that you will ever encounter. I am honored to be a small part of it and am such a proud aunt !! !!!!! !!!!!!!

halloween weekend

so fun. we spent time with the family this weekend and just relaxed it was so nice. The weather is gorgeous. I am enjoying every minute. I babysat my gorgeous nephew this weekend so we went out and played and of course I snapped away :) I love him so much! I have officially had my biggest session yet ! I met my sil's and friends at the pumpkin patch with all our churen and I got home only to find that I took 222 pictures !!!! That is the most I have taken at one time to date. There were sweet little baby faces everywhere I turned not to mention the most adorable children ever !! I could not resist. So this entry will most likely end in parts 1,2,3 & 4 to accommodate all of my obsession.... hee hee.

This is Caden, those chocolatey eyes are captivating (he got it from his mama :) ) ! He is getting so active and wanting to crawl and play with the big boys. He is the most content baby boy and it is so sweet to see him smile !!! I am so thankful my brother has such a gorgeous little family and I love them all so very much !

Caden's cousin and the most gorgeous little curly haired girl is Miss Hailey !! The camera loves her :) She is hard to catch for a photo but her personality is always shining thru. :)

I can not believe how big these babies are getting. I remember this exact moment ... I had just found out that I was pregnant and Autumn was almost 3 months old... she was the very first baby that I held after learning that I too, would have my own soon. She was dressed in a little purple sleeper and she soundly slept in my arms for what seems like hours as I just stared at her with so many emotions, I was scared but my heart was filled with so much joy. I will never forget holding Autumn that night she put all my fears at ease and turned them into sheer excitement as I couldn't wait to be holding my own baby soon. This is her, beautiful and sassy !!

My beautiful niece Brynley. I would love to know what she is thinking behind those big beautiful eyes :) She is so her own little person and she is full of energy. I love to watch her looking at people you can see that she is thinking so hard, I always wonder what she has going on in that sweet little blonde head of hers. When she really starts talking I think we are all in for some laughs ...

Of course there is a picture of Kaian ... I just love him. Ain't he just too cute :) ??

a lucky girl

not only do I have my family to love I have my husbands. I feel blessed that there are so many wonderful people surrounding me and I truly love them all with everything I have. Again, this weekend was wonderful and I have edited more pics tonight than I ever have at one time, I just kept finding another one and another one that I just "had" to edit tonight! I am glad I did because I smiled with everyone knowing that they will forever hold a beautiful memory of a perfect day.

Melissa ( my beautiful sister n law ) and her hunny Johnny had about a 10 minute session almost to themselves right before the sun set. We had goofed off and had limited time to shoot their lovey couple session in. I have to say that the two of them are the sweetest couple. Kaian adores ( Ohnny ) and of course he is a twinkle in his aunt sissa's eyes :) He followed Johnny all day asking him "what?" a million times I am sure while we all kept shooting pictures and taking in the sites.

( I said the session was ALMOST to themselves ) hee hee !!

Johnny, Kaian considers you one of his best friends:) he lights up when he sees your pictures.... its the cutest thing. He screams "Ohnny & Aunt Sissa!!!" There is nothing in this world like seeing your child filled with delight, thank you for taking the time to be such a friend to Kai.....weather you wanted to be or not ;) haha. Aunt Sissa, Kaian loves you very much !! He hopes you like your pictures.

this was such a relaxing weekend. On Saturday I took some ME time and went and got my hair done and tried on some new clothes. I love ME time, it's so seldom that ~ I LOVE it in when I do get it :)

Yesterday, we spent the perfect fall day at my mother in law's house in the country. The pinestraw was freshly fallen and the crisp autumn leaves spilled their fragrance in the air.

I arrived with a home made pumpkin pie and we all ate spagetti then headed to the nearby pond for some family pictures. It is so nice to spend time with your family on a Sunday. There is no hurry for anyone to leave and be at an appointed place at an appointed time to take care of something, no one needs to be "politically correct" you can just be who you are and enjoy the person god made you to be. We enjoyed the water, the trails where the leaves were golden yellow and emerald green but most important we enjoyed each other. Of course I took pictures and hoped to get a good family pic of my in laws ( I want to suprise my mother in law with a canvas of her family ) .............

here is a crazy goofy picture of my family, Kaian looks like he had a little drink in his drink. I mean, what is it with them looking awkward and goofy in all the family pictures ? HaHa.

What better way to end a perfect day than with pumpkin pie and the smell of sticky bun coffee brewing ! Here are some of our pictures .... I am sure there will be lots more to come as I have barely seen them all ( I took so many ) we were just having too much fun !

in front of the computer as if I have nothing better to do..... I have been playing in photoshop to get my mind off the terrible week I have been having and trying to focus on something that makes me smile. Pictures! I remember downloading a free christmas card template and decided that I would practice using it seeing as how Christmas is around the corner. I can tell because my anxiety is already in full force. No, I am not reallllly a humbug but I truly find Christmas to be one of the most stressful times of the year. However, I am sucking it up and concentrating on the good.... christmas cards that need christmas - PICTURES :) haha.

I remember when I thought sending winnie the pooh cards with matching address labels was cool but check me out now, got a fancy shmancy template to use and a half decent pic, not even a 4x6 that was stuffed into the envelope that is too small.... an actual picture that is on the card itself. Am I high class now or what? !! Yeah, yeah, I can hear what you are thinking..... and I see you rolling your eyes! :) Ok, well I do need to go. Seems as though my housekeeper took the day off.....oh wait! That would be me!!!! In that case, I really got to go.....laundry, dishes and trash won't take care of itself........... :(

sweet as apple pie

I have been on the lookout for particular fallish looking photo props that would hold a toddlers attention as well as serve as a cute fall backdrop :) I mean really, who doesn't love the fall? The air seems so fresh and the leaves such vibrant shades of amber and ruby. I am so ready for the fall and am excited to be able to get out their and capture its beauty with my camera.

Justin, Kaian and I went to the local flea market in search of old treasures. Of course mine was anything I could use in a photo and Justins was something to do with a car.... ok, I really wasn't listening. I had such high hopes of finding the chair that I was picturing in my mind....I could see it ...... old and wooden, scratches, rustic and small enough for all my favorite babies to sit in. I get there and go to a favorite lil spot of mine.....one that a sweet old lady sells at and she calls it 'something old, something new'. I am slowly taking in all the neat stuff she has in her store then all of a sudden I see it, sitting in the corner with a small vase of flowers sitting ever so pretty on top. A wooden apple crate. No it wasn't the chair I had hoped to find, it was much better! I knelt down to get a better look and all I could think of was my nephew Caden nestled in it with a sweet sweater on in a field of pumpkins. Before I could get that thought out of my head another one was rushing in of Kaian sitting in this crate with apples and a knit cap on his beautiful little head... SOLD was what this crate was. Just as I picked it up Justin walked in and he could see from the excitement on my face that I had found what I set out to get :) I could not wait to get it home and try it out before the sun went down. A few quick snaps later and the end of a gorgeous fall day I can rest assured I made a wonderful choice and will enjoy this crate that originated in the NC mountains all fall and winter long!

Another diaper cake was born this weekend to a special mommy! My friend Patty and I got together to make a cake for a mommy expecting a baby boy. Kaylee ( Patty's daugther ) picked out the ribbon and tulle that made this cake extra special. It turned out super cute and the mommy to be loved it.

I am so happy that it is Friday ( well, officially early saturday morning now ) because I am emotionally exhausted after this week. I needed to relax my mind and there is no better way to do that than to watch my son play and of course fiddle with my camera while he does his thing. Funny how a mother thinks *almost* everything their child does is the CUTEST thing! haha. I am no exception. I love to watch him play and thanks to aunt Julie and Keelan, Kai has got a basketball goal that he is lovin' ! I am not sure where he got his love of sports but man is he a BaLLer, SHot CAllER, 20' rIMs ........ ok, carried away there, anywho tha boys' got game! :)

FINALLY fair time around here and the weather was nice and cool! Kai and I got home after work and daycare and impatiently waited on Justin to get off of work so we could go take in the glittering lights and smell that cotton candy. While we waited we had a mini photo shoot cause like I said finally cool weather and Kaian looks so freakin adorable in sweaters!!! He was a good sport for the most part but it's never easy to do a self portrait of you and a 2 year old..... he just wanted to play.

this one I made for Candis as her shower is tomorrow ( her maternity shoot is a little further down here in my blog ) ... :) The babys name is Cash so I wanted to do something green then decided that baby blue was more appropriate as the shower is decorated in baby blue and I usually try to coordinate with the decorations however, I wasn't feeling either. After my day of relaxing I was feeling inspired to do something a lil more funky! I saw this gorgeous striped ribbon and NOTHING was changing my mind! I carried it to the counter and got 4 yards cut and from there I went to pickin' out baby stuff to decorate my cake. I walked around trying to decide on a topper and nothing was jumping out at me until I saw this bear that had a sign on his arm and it read "tickle my feet" well, I am a huge sucker for baby feet and I can never resist the urge to puch buttons and touch toys in the store so I proceeded to tickle this bear. I am standing in the aisle, with my hands full and I stoop over and grab this sweet bears paw only to hear a small child giggling histerically. It was coming from the bear and I smiled from the inside out, it was the cutest laugh ( other than Kaians of course ) . I only imagined Cash at around 6 months playing with this bear and smiling just as I had..... it was the perfect cake topper !

Cookies and some southern comfort

Kaian and I hung around the house today and with the weather getting cooler I decided I wanted some comfort food. There is nothing better than a home cooked pot of chicken and dumplin's all made from scratch. You can't get more southern than that. As Kaian napped I rolled out my dumplins and felt the cool breeze of the crisp fall air coming in the back door ... yep, I am country and we open doors and feel the breeze- you should try it, its refreshing and calming (no tranquil candle, hot rocks or warm towels needed ) . Anyways, there I was cutting dumplins dropping them one by one in the boiling chicken stock and I was absolutely, completely and utterly ...RELAXED! There is something about the fall and cooking combined that absolutely comfort me.

Once Kaian woke up we decided to make cookies .... not exactly 'make' them because we cheated and got the place and bake kind but the memory is what is priceless ! Who says boys can't bake? Kai can throw down in the kitchen !! Just have to watch him cause' he will eat anything when he 'thinks' you arent looking ... raw egg, flour or even the top of the vegetable oil...it really don't matter to him. Long as he thinks he's getting away with something and if he gets to eat while doing it then its a double play for him! Here are some pics of Kaian baking his first batch of halloween cookies.....you can see how impatient he was to eat them. :)

How did I get here ?? Celebrating Kaian's 2nd birthday ? !! His life almost still seems so surreal to me. I am actually living in a dream. He is everything I could have ever wanted and more. His personality is vibrant and comical and his smile is contagious. He is a mama's boy but loves to be with his daddy. What did I do to deserve someone so special ? I am the proudest mommy in the world and I know that my journey has only just begun !!! Here are some pics of Kaian's second birthday. Nothing over the top just some family fun at home :)

I took Candis's pregnancy pictures last Wednesday and she is so sweet. Possibly one of the most gorgeous pregnant woman I have seen. She and Mike are very excited and are expecting Kristopher Cash to arrive in November :) I am impatiently awaiting his newborn session .... 2 entries in one day ?? !! HAHA. Obviously I am just bored sitting here talking to myself ! Listening to a little I-tunes and blogging. Sound like a perfect day huh ? Actually I have been feeling quite well and lately I have been taking pictures just for fun. Once upon a time there was the thought that I would take this little hobby and maybe turn it into something but I have come to realize that I won't. SO here lately I have taken my camera and actually captured moments that mean something to me instead of thinking about the light, comp, exposure all that technical stuff floods my head and the FUN seems to dwindle so lately I have been having a large time just a clickin' with no other purpose than to please myself - straight fun yo' !

Choppin' limbs and blowin' whites but I love these! This is a swingset that we got Kai for his birthday. Just a fun afternoon Kai and mommy and we were livin' it up. He loves to slide and he loves to giggle. Often he will say 'mommy, tickle me' he is truly the love of my life and I love every second. Hope you enjoy these pictures as they are a day in our life. Although not perfect they are real. Taking small steps & livin' on love !

for my baby boy to turn 2 ! I remember so clearly that special day and alllll the days leading up to it. I got rounder and rounder but I was soooo happy !! I could not wait to be a mommy to this little boy. Promising myself and him that I would be the best mommy I knew how and that he would have a wonderful life. I look at him now and am completely satisfied as I know I have lived up to that promise.

Lordy, I keep forgetting about this thing... let's see lately I have been working as usual. We have bought a pool and I am really excited, I have always always wanted a pool and somehow my life keeps falling together with everything I have dreamed of all being put in place. Kaian is now talking back and seems to have picked up a biting habit. Not good, but he will learn and we will get through it. I will try to remember to stop by once a week or so .....

It started on Friday when I was presented with a photoshop challenge. I researched it and asked some fellow picture takers and voila! It wasn't as hard as I thought. Here are the pictures I took after gaining the photoshop knowledge that I needed to finish the portrait. My focus was all over the place and the lighting was not good but my mommy goggles are on tight with these! I just love the memory of having this moment more than the technically right picture. Kaian was "bubbling" over with excitement when we brought out the bubbles. Here is a glimpse into one of my most treasured memories, hope you enjoy!

Yesterday when I got home from work ( my day job, the one that actually pays my bills :) ) I decided to pick up the camera. I had a lollipop that I thought Kaian might enjoy and I thought to my self " self, I bet you could bribe him to sit still with that big ole lolly" and voila ! It actually worked. Now the even harder task.... getting the husband to sit in a few pics. He rode up on his 4 wheeler ( proud that he has it running now after ordering some parts off of ebay - his first venture into the internet buying word) only to have me ask AGAIN to take a pic with the family. He finally agrees and then procedes to look into the camera as if he is being held hostage.

My spunky little niece has turned one and is as sassy as ever! She is a bald beauty and is our very own princess. She demands attention and loves to giggle. I sometimes can see myself in her .... I go back to that time when I was carefree with that little bird smile I had. She is more diva~licious than me already. I am blessed to have this wonderful family!

How I love my new nephew!!! He is perfect in every way. He has taken over our hearts, as we knew he would! Ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes he begins his journey in the loving arms of his cooky yet wonderful family. There is no greater love than that of a new addition. I am back! I have been busy learning and practicing with my camera ... hopefully, its paying off somewhere! This has been a fun journey but sometimes it is a little discouraging. Its the sheer love of that great shot, the one that the color pops in and the eyes are focused so clear that I keep clicking for. I see so many inspiring photographers and pictures that I have to keep striving! I simply LOVE it!

I have a few pics up now....how they got there was trial and error :) It is so cold here and we are expecting a little ice in the next few days so my picture ops look very dim for this weekend :( With the daylight savings time its dark by the time I arrive home from the 40 hour work week so I am very limited to shooting only on the weekends. Hoping that the weather clears up and I am able to post a weekly pic. I am going to stay on topic and the topic for this week is pre and post edit :)

well, other than myspace. I am learning this new process so bear with me..... :) I am excited to start a blogging photography journal! Small steps is the title because it just suits me so well. I have an outgoing toddler (with little feet) and I am learning photography taking small steps to get to the point where I would call myself accomplished. I love taking pictures it is such a stress reliever for me.
